Welcome to The Bruce Festival 2011
Our 2011 event truly is a Festival fit for a King, full of historic atmosphere and family fun, set against the magnificent backdrop of Dunfermline Abbey and the picturesque Pittencrieff Park.
The line up this year includes a number of striking new additions that will bring the Bruce story to life in dramatic style, confirming the Dunfermline event as the focal point for the celebration of one of Scotland’s greatest heroes.
Not to be missed is A Legendary Walk Through Time, a theatrical tour of Dunfermline’s Glen, evoking the legends of medieval Scotland guided by the ghost of Bruce himself, and performed by Living History.
The Bruce Festival centres on the a medieval village recreated in Pittencrieff Park where visitors can step back in time and experience the entertainment, crafts, cuisine and hustle and bustle of life as it would have been in the 14th Century. Wander through the encampment and mingle with craftsman, jesters, knights and even King Robert the Bruce himself as the world renowned Clanranald Trust recreate the battles and pageantry of the day.
Enjoy the spectacle of medieval Scotland springing to life with a thrilling equestrian show performed by Les Amis d’Onno, story telling workshops and a food village hosted by Fife’s chef, food consultant and writer, Christopher Trotter.
The Bruce Festival runs from 11.00am to 5.00pm on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August in Pittencrieff Park and entry to this fun packed family event is free.
Ticketed events take place on Friday 26th and Saturday 27th August, click here for details.
The Bruce Festival is organised by Dunfermline Delivers, the city’s Business Development Company.
