Dunfermline Fireworks Display 2008

THE skies over Dunfermline will be ablaze with colour when the annual bonfire and fireworks display gets under way on 5th November.

Pittencrieff Park will literally sparkle on Bonfire Night, kicking off with trapeze artists and fire-eaters at 6pm before the dazzling half-hour show of pyrotechnics at 7pm.

All entrances to the park will also feature fire cans for added atmosphere.

Susan Hughes, chief executive of event organisers Dunfermline Delivers, said, “As in previous years, Unique Events, who manage the Edinburgh Hogmanay, will be doing it, and we trust they will put on another spectacular event for us this year.

“We will have a unique fire display this year – I don’t want to give too much away – that we have never seen before in Dunfermline so it will be a first.”

Tesco are the main sponsors of the event, which is also being supported by Dunfermline Building Society, the Fife Common Good Fund and Fife Council’s Local Action Fund.

Ms Hughes praised local businesses for their support.

She said, “In the face of the current economic climate, we have found businesses in Dunfermline who are happy to contribute towards this event so people can enjoy it for free.

“Year on year we get that kind of support and it’s absolutely fabulous that the public and private sector see this as something worth investing in.

"Without any of that, events like this and the Christmas lights would not happen.

“Special thanks go to our sponsors, because without this great partnership between private businesses and public bodies, this could not continue.

“The fireworks display is a great example of what can be achieved by working together and we look forward to developing this further through Dunfermline BID.”

Those who plan to go to the event are advised not to bring their pets, nor their own fireworks and sparklers.
