Billy George here...
Our superb recent weather means more opportunity for a wee bit of alfresco dining.
Fortunately we can all get that continental feel in more and more places too.
Yesterday for example my wife, daughter and I enjoyed superb tapas for lunch at The Canmore. It really was as good as I’ve experienced anywhere.
Here's their secret garden (can't guarantee the sunshine though ;)...
We also have news that what used to be Reubens in The New Row has now opened its doors as a Vegan café. 269 Vegan brings even more choice for people looking for something a bit different. I can’t wait to try it soon.
Therefore in all honesty…
I don’t think we’ve ever had it so good in Dunfermline when it comes to dining out.
The excellent Jack O’Bryan’s has brought real quality fine dining to the town centre. Plus with our first class Indian, Turkish, Italian, Japanese and Spanish restaurants now the variety of good dining options are better than ever.
Of course, the old bar lunch will always be a firm favourite too. I recently had very good meals at Somewhere Else and Fire Station Creative (another venue with excellent outdoor facilities).
So yes, when it comes to good eating…
Dunfermline is becoming something of a quiet Mecca for foodies.
It’s all far cry than from the past when a wee high tea at The Victoria or a fish supper at Alaris was as good as it got (and they were both good it has to be said). So hopefully more great eateries will continue to be attracted to the town post pandemic.
Last thought before I sign off...
What’s missing though?
Maybe a brilliant Chinese restaurant makes it happy home here in Dunfermline?
It’s a personal favourite cuisine of mine.
