Foodie Adventures in Dunfermline

Hello!

I know it’s February but I still feel I should wish you all a Happy New Year because I have had news of so many new food and drink ventures in Dunfermline.

Let me start with the sweeter side of life. The Wee Vegan Bakery had a little hiatus but are back and oh my word they are better than ever! They very kindly dropped off some of their doughnuts and their vegan tablet for me to try and since then I’ve become a bit of an addict, working my way through the goodies on their website. I bought some more from them today as they were attending the Small Business Market in the Kingsgate Centre. The vegan tablet is incredibly good, and their doughnuts and other bakes are the same super high quality. Give them a go; whether you follow a vegan diet or not, you won’t be disappointed.

Someone else who has been tempting my sweet tooth is Violet who has opened the loveliest little proper sweet shop in Bruce Street called “A Quarter of Sweetalicious”. I went in to say hello and was amazed at the number of delicious sweeties she has in her wee shop. I came out with a couple of bags of bon bons, but I have my eye on so many others for my next visit. If you have a favourite sweet from your childhood, pop in and say hello. She might already have it but if not, she’ll do what she can to track some down.

From the super sweet to the biggest boldest savoury flavours, as I was invited to try the new menu at The Haberdashery, at the bottom of the New Row, by their resident street food chef, Chef Roman. Everything we had was delicious but the bee sting chicken quesadilla that I plumped for was just out of this world. Really big flavours and everything cooked fresh to order. This is the El Classico quesadilla which is a BBQ pulled beef quesadilla that I’ve already decided on for my next visit:

The Haberdashery has had a beautiful facelift over the past year - how inviting does this look to settle in for an evening with friends sampling their wonderful cocktail and drinks menus with delicious food? We had such a nice evening. The staff are lovely and helpful, I would definitely recommend it if you’re looking for somewhere to have a get together.

Finally, news of a new restaurant coming soon to Fife Leisure Park. Christie’s already has an established venue in Falkirk and they are bringing their fun Scottish take on tapas to Dunfermline this year. I’ll keep you up to date with news of it nearer the time but it’s really nice to see an independent restaurant coming along to settle in amongst all the big names at the leisure park.

You can read even more about everyone I’ve included in this roundup at Fife Foodies’ Society on Facebook and Instagram. If you have any food and drink news to tell us, get in touch at news@visitdunfermline.com

So it really is a happy new year; happy new shops, happy new menus, happy new restaurants, happy tummies!
