An Improving Cultural Offering
We at Visit Dunfermline see our main roles as promoting our city, building strength by creating an inclusive community and finally, bringing first class events that enrich our lives.
One such event is the concert we’re hosting this evening in The Viewfield Baptist Church by The Strasbourg Youth Orchestra. I was forwarded an email by our local tourism association from the Orchestra looking for venues, as they celebrate 35 years since they were founded, by touring Scotland and Ireland.
We are all too happy to accommodate them and they will arrive this afternoon, where we will welcome them for lunch at The Glen Pavilion. A big thanks to The Provost’s office for sponsoring this.
The orchestra have delighted audiences across Europe and beyond with their performances of classical and popular tunes. It will be a rare treat and I’m really looking forward to it.
You can still gain entry to this event by paying at the door.
Entry fee is £8.
Later in the year we will also be involved in organising a festival in The Glen Pavilion to highlight the problems associated with mental health issues.
A number of first class musicians have already committed to it, as have Falling Up Together, an art collective that aims to to improve wellbeing through the agency of culture and ethical collaboration. Full details to follow.
Finally, watch this space for a major announcement concerning a series of themed events planned for next year.
